Every once in a while, something will come up that makes you rethink things and puts them into a different view.
I like to think of myself as a decent sport fisherman. I like to target the larger species in our waterways, and usually feel like I'm doing a decent job at it.
I recently sent some pics of big lake trout and carp to friends and family. My wife's grandfather sent a message in reply. Though not much of a fisherman, he's took some time to fish every once in a while. Being as he's a native of South Africa, he's got to experience fishing that I can only dream of.
Here is an old pic he sent of a real nice Pacific Blue Marlin he caught about 30 years ago. Weighed in at 760 lbs, he posed for a pic before having it stuffed and mounted on his wall:
Now that's a fish!

I am the grandfather now nearly 83, but given the opportunity I would do it again. Age is not important if your mind is right. But I can tell you that the fight for 3 hours with that fish was worse than any fight with a wife!
Marvelous story and picture. Love your fishing stories about you and your children.
