I had a few free hours today, decided to hit a couple local spots for some shore fishing. We decided to try the Pointe Claire Marina which turned out to be overgrown with weeds, so we were forced to use topwater lures. Got a couple hits, then nothing a 2 hours, so we decided to move on.
We headed to the Pointes des Cascades area to try some spots around the pier that we hadn’t tried before. Turned out to be a great idea, the dense weeds in the shallow areas seem to be full of small pike. We had about a dozen hits on Spro frogs, I ended up catching a skinny 30 inch pike.
Again, I was amazed by the castability of the Spro frog, I threw it into bullrushes, bushes, trees lily pads and other type of heavy weed cover, I didn't snag even once. Getting hits in that type of cover is very exciting and interesting, as no one would dream of casting there on purpose using any other type of lure.
